Get to know the faces of Novility who make the magic happen behind the scenes. This month on Inside Novility: Nadine – our one and only Product Research Intern!
Nadine has been interning at Novility for the last six months as part of her studies at the prestigious École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in International Hospitality Management. She previously worked for different hotels such as the Conrad in Singapore and Hotel des Trois Couronnes in Switzerland. Nadine will begin her senior year at EHL this September and she plans to continue her studies with a Master’s Degree, focusing on interior design.
Internships are vital for starting to build your career path. Why did you decide to intern at Novility?
One of the main reasons was that having worked in large hotels before, I wanted to do be in a different environment, while still being in the hospitality business. I wanted to be a part of something innovative in the industry and experience the startup culture, and Novility it was!
What is the best thing about working here?
I love the company culture – I've always felt the genuine family feeling over here. Also, I appreciate the fact that the communication within departments is effortless and smooth.
You have one year to go at university. How do you think your experience at Novility will help you? What is the most valuable thing you learned here?
I got to do different things and operate in different functions, which has made me a more versatile team player. As we will be doing plenty of group work in our final year at EHL, I think me and my teammates will benefit from this! Another important thing is that I am very interested in design, and seeing designers over here working with so much passion, I am inspired to do what I’m passionate about as a career.
What plans do you have for the future?
I’m willing to continue my studies with a Master’s in interior design. I still want to have a foot on hospitality, but I want to let out that creative side of me. I’m thinking of hotel design – let’s see.
Any advice for future Novility interns?
Don’t hesitate to share your ideas, be curious and ask as many questions as you can.
What inspires you?
I don’t like routine, I like change. Sometimes you might think, “I’ll just go to work and do this thing, again”, but there is always something different that comes up – like a new challenge to face. I see every day as a new adventure and this is what keeps me going.
If you were the CEO of a company, name one thing that you would make compulsory.
I would ensure that the employees are able to openly share their ideas. I think having that idea flow is significant.
You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
I think I’d be a Burgundy red because I’m a passionate person and – strange enough – I associate the color with a ‘go and get it’ personality.
What would your pet say if we asked about you?
I have two kittens and they would probably comment on my dancing when I cook, and probably (hopefully) they would tell you how good I am.
If there was a movie produced about your life, what would the name be?
The Adventures of the Red Crayon.
